Microsoft introduced in mid-June of 2012 a new product to compete with the iPad and other tablets: the line of Surface tablet! It comes with a version with Windows 8 and change the company policy with respect to partnerships with manufacturers. Before the Windows was mainly sold in OEM for almost any manufacturer of computers in the world, now on Windows 8 for tablets is released by Microsoft along with the hardware.
The new Windows 8 has the Metro interface and its great novelty is the support for touch screens, being returned also for use on tablets.
The screen Surface is greater than that of the iPad, and it is also much heavier. It seems that it is pretty much a PC-style ultrabook, but without the integrated keyboard, which can be used as an accessory.
Already I think the iPad 1 as well heavy in relation to other latest tablets, and I’m not sure of the acceptance of the people for a device perhaps more heavy, less portable and not as powerful as an ultrabook nor as portable as a tablet common, but there are innovations concept in the Microsoft tablet that does not yet exist in the market.
We can only wait for the launch of the product here in Brazil, that should be available for sales until Christmas of 2012.
The video below is promotional, showing the different characteristics of the Surface.
This other video is the first of a series of 4 videos of the official launch of the Microsoft Surface. There are full versions on Youtube, but I preferred this to be in resolution greater good and with best quality.
This in English but it is possible to watch with the translation of the subtitles and fully understand all the details of the new tablet from Microsoft.
I liked the product and it will enter the list of items to be tested as soon as it is available here! And you? Already use a tablet? If you were to recommend to someone, what would it be and why?
